The Fuhrmann Family in Brno

Festival

CZK 50

lecture by Eva Yildizová and Michael Fuhrmann

The story of the Fuhrmann family is one of entrepreneurial success, social advancement, and the dramatic upheavals brought by the twentieth century. The family belonged to the prominent members of Brno’s Jewish community, and their fate was closely intertwined with the city’s economic, cultural, and social life.

This lecture will offer a unique perspective on the family’s history from both historical and personal viewpoints. It will explore the lives of individual family members, their activities in Brno, and their experiences of forced departure, emigration, and the search for a new home. Alongside archival sources and historical context, the programme will also feature family memories and reflections on how family history and memory are passed down through generations.

The lecture will be held in Czech and English with interpretation.
